Season -
New-leaf.
The weather is turning light and breezy, but the wind and rain won't pass easily, nor without a fight. Anticipation is thick in the air, making the fur of the Clan cats prickle with worry. What could be brewing in the forest?
(All Clans have a limit of five cats to bring to the Gathering; Any ranks except for Kit.)
bic;; Moonlight flickered through the thawing pine trees, as the shadow small-framed feline slunk towards the glittering mass of water known as the Doves Pond. Stepping into the moonlight, her flamboyant orange pelt shone in the bright silver light, her green eyes glittering like emeralds. Behind her was a small clutter of cats. Their chatting ceased as they trotted over a small rise in the land, looking down on the other cats as they mingled together. Colorfulstar lead SparkClan down towards the others, heading to a small grove next to the pond. She swiveled her head, ears twitching at the sound of the other Leaders at the base of the Sacredrock. Padding over gingerly, she dipped her head in respect to them. "Hello." The she-cat murmured, her voice almost inaudible over the indistinct chatter behind them. Her slender tail flicked back and fourth as she gazed up at Silverpelt in the deep blue sky. Looking up at the eye, the moon hung in the night air like being held up by StarClan themselves.
A flash of silver passed the ginger-and-white leader, making her jump back a fox-length. She watched the silver tabby swiftly follow a plump hare, gouging deep grooves in the soil as she ran. Colorfulstar shook her head, trotting along the thin woodland to catch up with the lively she-cat. "That Rabbitfoot." She murmured to herself, a tone of humor in her voice. She trotted in the direction of RapidClan, where here old apprentice had headed towards while in pursuit of her prey. Getting closer to the rapid that bordered the two Clans, Colorfulstar noticed a sharp tang in the air. It was metallic, burning her nose with familiarity. Blood. Feline blood. It didn't smell like rabbit. With a sudden sense of urgency, the lithe leader bounded towards the horrid scent, her emerald eyes wide with fright. Was there a fight at the border? Did she hurt herself on one of the rocks next to the rapid? Her stomach lurched. She knew what had happened. "Rabbitfoot?" She screeched, rounding the last bout of trees between RapidClan and SparkClan territory. There was no reply. "Rabbitfoot?" She repeated, rushing towards the edge of the current of water. Rabbitfoot flailed her paws, her claws scrabbling for something to grip on to; Her blue eyes were sodden with fear. "Rabbitfoot!" Colorfulstar let her paw hang over, stretching it until she couldn't any more. But it was too long a length. The silver she-cat bobbed above the water, gasping for air and scrabbling for land, then back down again, her paws splashing in a feeble attempt to save her life. Rabbitfoot's paws slowed down, getting weaker and weaker, until they stopped altogether. Her body floated to the top of the water, and she was carried down the rapid. "No! Rabbitfoot!" She screamed after her apprentice and friend. "You must be there! You have two kits, a mate! Even StarClan knew you were destined together!" Colorfulstar slumped to the ground, gasping for breath. "Please..."
A lithe white figure emerged from the twilight and into the clearing filled with cats, with another four cats following him. They chatted amongst themselves but his eyes were ahead the whole time, grief clouding them briefly before returning to a hard stare. As quickly as they arrived, the warriors and apprentices of Sparkclan broke off to mingle with friends from the other clans. As always there was a truce that bound the clans together under the full moon. If there were ever an unresolved quarrel, Starclan would surely cover the moon which singled the end of the gathering and yet everything seemed peaceful. Snowdance didnt lose his swagger or his complete attention on Colorfulstar. He could tell she still missed her apprentice who had died in the raging waters, even though his leader dragged her to shore. The proud leader, that he knew, would not delve into these matters though in public sight and he admired her courage as well. He dipped his head, agknowleging the other cats that passed him as he made his way to where Sparkclan had gathered and sat close to the sacredrock. No sooner did he sit down, the yowl for silence rang across the clearing, signaling the beginning of the gathering. Snowdance looked up expectantly with ears pricked, ready to listen.

TreeClan cats attending:
Fernstar Blossomcherry Oakleaf Rowanpaw Skyheart
An elegant she-cat sat at the base of Sacredrock, not feeling chilled in the least by the winter breeze that swept across Dove Pond. Her long brown fur kept her as warm as ever, as well as disguise her in the gloom. Against the shadowed rock and night, it was hard to see her even with the moonlight. Her warriors and apprentices chatted around her, yet no one was speaking to her. The leader wasn't bothered by this much; she was lost in thought. Warriors had been disappearing lately, along with her deputy. It was a sad business; this was the second deputy to disappear in three moons. So strange and sad, yet alarming. At the thought of Frostyclaw, her heart twisted. The two had been good friends, he helping her when she was unexpectedly named TreeClan's new leader. Now that he was gone, she had to help her new deputy, Blossomcherry, take his place. Fernstar turned her gaze toward Colorfulstar, studying the older leader with her gold gaze before dipping her head. "Hello Colorfulstar. I hope all is well?" She asked, sounding more mature than she had at the last Gathering. These moons as leader had shown her the responsibility that she now held, and she was determined to be a good example.

"I suppose." The orange-and-white she-cat wasn't prepared to announce the death of her previous apprentice this soon. "How is the prey running in TreeClan?" She asked quietly, a withdrawn look in her eyes. At least a few new kits would be born soon.

Something in Colorfulstar's gaze was rather distressing. She seemed to be folding in on herself, retreating from the Gathering to hide from everyone. Fernstar, naturally curious, wished that she could ask. But, as a leader of another clan, she couldn't exactly pry without seeming suspicious. Besides, if it was sickness or a weakness, she knew that the SparkClan leader wouldn't reveal it to a rival leader that might take advantage. "Fine, fine. It's easier when you have fewer mouths to feed." She replied, sounding more bitter than she had meant to. But it was true. Warriors and apprentices had been disappearing, and no new litters were on the way. It seemed TreeClan was shrinking everyday.

Oakleaf trotted across the stretch of open land known to the cats as the Doves Pond. He felt uneasy, being used to the protection of the ancient, twisting trees, moss slowly climbing upwards after moons and moons. He felt like it was a connection to the cats that once were, the gouges of their claws scoring the bark. Bouncing over to the other Medicine Cats, he stopped. Where had his silly apprentice gone to? The small-built tom looking around the clearing, babbling a strong as the most powerful brook coming from all directions. Shaking his head, the brown tabby sniffed the air and parted his jaws slightly. The little he knew about tracking was usually put to good use finding herbs. Rowanpaw. Oakleaf thought, rolling his eyes and bounding in the direction of his scent. It'll be a wonder if he ever gets his Medicine Cat name.
Noticing the fellow Leaders' bitter tone, Colorfulstar's hackles rose instinctively. Had she found out about the death of Rabbitfoot? Was she responsible? Shaking her head as quietly as she could, trying not to be noticed by Fernstar, the orange-and-white Leader caught a hold of what she was doing. Fernstar wouldn't do that. She tried to convince herself, her gaze drawing away from the shaggy brown-gray she-cat. If Jadestar chose her to be her successor, that's enough to say she's not up to something for me. Finally snapping out of her hectic daze, she responded to the cat in front of her. "The key is having enough Warriors to feed all those mouths." Colorfulstar replied with a tinge of dark humor.

Fernstar remained silent for a few heartbeats; the she-cat almost seemed to be a statue as she stared up at the moon. The ghostly white was reflected back in her bright eyes, though sadness seemed to radiate from them as well. The sounds of the Gathering faded into the background as she brought to mind all of the warriors who had disappeared. Frostyclaw and Fallingtail were just a couple of the TreeClanners that had been taken by Twolegs in the wire cages. Remembering that young Rainpaw had watched helplessly, she shuddered. How horrible had it been for the cats left who had seen their clan mate's scared eyes before they disappeared? Oh StarClan. The leader thought, bowing her head. Rather than a proud leader, she looked like a warrior that had been defeated. For a heartbeat or two, it looked as if she were about to give in to grief that she hadn't been able to show anyone. Then, the she-cat stiffened. Raising her head, Fernstar turned to look back at Colorfulstar, a determined fire blazing in the depths of her eyes. "Too true Colorfulstar," She meowed, careful to be vague, "Yet it can also be seen as a time of training. We all don't get comfortable leaf-bares or green-leafs."
"When the waters of disaster meet the forest floor, five unlikely must step up, before the clans are no more."
"This is the chilling prophecy that five medicine cats receive on an oddly cold night in New-leaf when five cats give birth to new litters. Along with these words comes an image: Five shadowy figures standing on a hill in the pelting rain with several cats below them. Eventually, the words are put out of mind.
Now zoom forward a few moons. It's the middle of new-leaf, and several kits have been Apprenticed. Rainpaw of TreeClan, Streampaw of DesertClan, Riverpaw of RapidClan, Ripplepaw of SwampClan, and Wetpaw of SparkClan. These apprentices do not know each other, and carry separate personalities. Strangely, they have one thing in common. They keep seeing these images in dreams. Their territories under water, cats running from a large wave of water, etc. They tell no one, but they also keep hearing the words of the long-forgotten prophecy when they least expect it.
Another image that comes to mind is a large lake that only a few recognize. Then comes the unending rain. Will the apprentices realize their destiny? Will they come together, despite Clan boundaries, to save the Clans'? Only time will tell."
